How the compliance check works
What is changing in August 2026?
New packaging regulations coming into force in August 2026 will restrict or ban a range of common takeaway packaging materials across the EU.
Materials already facing restrictions include expanded polystyrene containers and cups, single use plastic cutlery and stirrers, plastic straws, non recyclable plastic bags, and plastic condiment and sauce sachets.
Further restrictions on packaging that cannot be recycled or composted are also being phased in, meaning materials that are currently legal may not remain so.
Many food businesses are still using packaging that will not be compliant by the deadline.
The free check below tells you in plain language whether your current packaging is affected and what your options are.
